Every year, we ask ourselves a simple but powerful question: How can we be different? Not just different from others in the industry but also from who we were the year before. This year, we’ve decided to focus on something close to our hearts: “Samaj”, the Hindi word for community.
Our growth and success have been possible because of you—our community. Your unwavering support, referrals, and belief in Víya have brought us to where we are today. For that, we are deeply grateful. As we look ahead, we want to create something that not only strengthens bonds within our community but also sparks new relationships, uplifts others, and gives back to the people and places that have supported us.
From these ideas, the Barter Exchange was born.
At Víya, art has always been at the core of what we do. Even during my college days filled with numbers and logic, art remained my constant source of joy and inspiration. Design, to me, has always felt natural—a perfect harmony of imagination and craftsmanship. When it came to designing jewelry, it was an intuitive expression of that passion. But I wanted to push the boundaries of what we could create and experience. My curiosity, much like my cat’s, led us here.
The Barter Exchange is a collaborative project where Víya partners with artists across various mediums—painters, sculptors, glassblowers, and more. Together, we exchange creative energies, perspectives, and ultimately, our work. Each artist and Víya will create pieces of equivalent value, drawing design inspiration from one another, and at the end, we’ll exchange these creations.
The goal? To step into each other’s worlds, understand each other’s craft, and create something entirely unique—something that could only exist because of this collaboration.
But the Barter Exchange doesn’t stop there. After working with 10 artists and brands, we’ll host a gallery-style auction to showcase all the incredible pieces. The proceeds from the auction will be donated to multiple charities, bringing communities together in a shared effort to make a difference.
This initiative is more than just a creative challenge; it’s a celebration of connection, artistry, and generosity. We’re excited to see where the Barter Exchange takes us and the new relationships, ideas, and impact it will spark.
